Kia Does a Mach 21-Screen Salute

If nothing else, we will talk about what Kia brought to the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and that’s exactly what they want us to do.

It’s not surprising that automakers try to make an impact on those in attendance at different auto shows. Sometimes this is with a new model concept, other times it’s with new features. Kia has decided to mix the two and give us a look at something that probably won’t ever make its way to the market but is certainly designed to capture our attention and let us see something that’s different

So Many Screens in this Kia

The Kia team is ready to show off an electric concept car at the Geneva Motor Show but there’s something interesting, and a bit humorous, about what they’ve decided to do with this new car. The key item that we’re going to see and be blown away by, is a set of 21 individual high-resolution screens that will be in the electric concept. While Kia isn’t serious about offering this to us as a production feature, it is interesting to talk about and see and will certainly capture some attention at the show.

The Right Idea

While we don’t ever expect to see 21 screens offered in any vehicle, unless the car is driving itself, the Kia team has placed these in this car as a jab at the industry and the current obsession with more screens that come from nearly every automaker. These 21 individual screens appear in a coordinated and marching curve across the top of the dashboard in a layout that you can admire. While it’s an impressive joke, it is cool to see the way Kia was able to create these screens and have them working together in this car.

When is a Car not a Car?

Kia has stated the vehicle that carries these screens is a new and the first pure-electric four-door passenger car. That seems like a smart and bold statement, but they also described it as a vehicle that combines the attributes of a “muscular SUV, a sleek car, and a spacious crossover.” The fact that Kia mentioned SUVs twice in their description makes us wonder if this vehicle is more of a crossover than a sedan, but the teaser views of the vehicle let us see that it does look more like a car than anything else.

The Right Style on the Front of this Kia

The front of this new electric concept is the same tiger-nose grille that we saw first introduced on the Kia Stinger. This look is certainly attractive and since it’s an electric car it doesn’t need an actual grill to breathe. This means Kia is able to offer this new car with a set of LED lights that span the entire width of the vehicle and give us an attractive appearance. Get a look at this new electric concept with all its features, the questionable style, and the number of screens when the Geneva Motor Show begins.
