The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the most interesting electric vehicles. This electric SUV has plenty of power for performance, driving fun, and family outings.
Ford took the Mustang name and turned it into something many thought was not worthy of the galloping horse logo. A couple of years of the Mach-E, and we seem to love this new electric SUV. Ford did a great job giving this vehicle ample power, sporty driving dynamics, and quality materials to make it a great choice for those looking for an electric vehicle. Let’s look at a few things that you might not know about this new electric Ford crossover.
Like Jeep, Ford gives the Mach-E some Easter Eggs
Those hidden little gems we see on the Jeep Wrangler haven’t gone unnoticed. More automakers are adding these little details to their vehicles, and Ford has done so with this electric Mustang. The Mach-E has an inscription behind the charger point covers that say “horsepower,” and there’s a Mustang logo under the moveable rubber paddings on some of the cabin surfaces. You’ll find more than 20 of these details in this electric SUV, and enjoy finding these little items.
It Can Tow!
You might never think of a Mustang and towing, but now you can. The Ford Mustang Mach-E can tow up to 3,306 pounds, which is better than the previous versions of this electric SUV. To achieve this tow rating, you must opt for the 91-kWh battery pack, which delivers an extended driving range or you. Ford says it’s considering increasing the towing capacity using over-the-air updates, which could be interesting for drivers that want to pull more weight with this SUV.
A comprehensive package of driver features
The Mach-E wasn’t made to be a speed demon or a muscle car. It can drive fast, and it looks aggressive, but underneath, it’s an SUV for a small family to enjoy. Because it will be a daily driver for families, Ford includes a full package of driver features to assist you during your ride. Access the Driver Assistance features shown on the infotainment screen, and you’ll see what this SUV delivers. Once activated, you should feel a lot safer during your ride.
Shared battery technology
Is the battery pack in the Ford Mustang Mach-E unique to this vehicle? Not at all. The battery pack is the same one used in the E Transit Van. Why would Ford do this? They made a deal with LG Chem Poland to build batteries for EVs, and using the same battery pack across different vehicles makes a lot of sense. This allows Ford to get the most out of this deal and use batteries that are made to handle the load of tough driving.
The Mach-E Sounds like a Mustang
Many electric vehicles offer fake noises that transmit out of some exterior speakers, giving drivers the sounds of angry engines they want to hear. This Ford Mustang electric SUV has these angry sounds, and you can choose between three different options to enjoy the right sounds. These sounds are called Engage, Whisper, and Unbridled to give you a few different ways to hear something that you want. Of course, the Whisper model turns off all the sounds and makes the best sounds for kids who are trying to sleep in the backseat.
Will the Mustang become a sub-brand?
There are many rumors swirling that domestic automakers will begin to create sub-brands out of some of the most popular models in their lineups. For Ford, this could mean seeing F-150, Bronco, and Mustang as sub-brands. The Mustang Mach-E is the second Ford to have all Ford badges removed from the vehicle, the first being the Bronco. All Mach-E and Bronco models only have one Ford blue oval, which could be deleted if either model becomes a sub-brand.
The Mustang Mach-E has a great frunk
Ford doesn’t shy away from utilizing space where the engine would have been. The Ford Mustang Mach-E has a 4.7 cubic foot frunk that also has a drain in the bottom to drain when it senses water in the frunk. This makes it easy to use this space as a cooler for drinks or a great place to put wet and muddy gear after some outdoor adventures. This frunk area makes driving and utilizing this SUV much more fun for you.
Will you look to the Ford Mustang Mach-E for your electric SUV needs? This Ford is pretty cool, even if it’s not a traditional Mustang.
