The Incredible Features of the Chevy Corvette

Featuresofthecorvette

The Chevy Corvette is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable brands of American cars. It started in 1953 as a stylish coupe to compete with European models, but it wasn’t particularly powerful. Eventually, the Corvette became home to some of the most powerful V8 engines on the market. Now, the Corvette is a mid-engine monster that easily sits next to exotic European sports cars. You can get a closer look at all of the great features of the Corvette by visiting your Chevrolet dealer, but let’s discuss some of the best ones.

LT2 V8 Engine and Dual Clutch Transmission

Ever since the Corvette was upgraded to a V8 from its original inline-six, Chevrolet has been all-in on eight cylinders and 16 pushrods for the Vette. The basic setup has been roughly the same over the years, despite the fact that many upgraded V8 engines have been used. The C8 Corvette that came out in 2020 marked the first real major change with the midengine positioning. However, even with this change, the V8 engine is still a pushrod engine and has two valves per cylinder just like every other past Corvette. The main difference is that this fully modern engine can make 495 horsepower without forced induction.

The other unique feature of the new Corvette is the dual-clutch transmission. The Corvette no longer comes with a manual transmission as of 2020 and the typical automatic has also been removed to be replaced with the new dual-clutch system. This is an interesting choice as it’s very popular among high-end European automakers. The transmission was designed to bring the C8 up to track level with something that could handle the torque and deliver it fast.

MSRP

A car like the Corvette with its cutting-edge technology, powerful engine, and exotic European looks should cost an arm and a leg at least. However, the base Corvette starts at $60,900. With options, this can go as high as $80,000. This still might seem like a lot, but to put it in perspective, Corvette’s European competitors start at over $150,000 and go well over $200,000. This means that the new Corvette is pretty much the absolute best value for the money when it comes to exotic mid-engined sports cars.

Driver-Focused Interior

The interior of the new Corvette is amazingly driver-focused. The center stack in the dash is a big part of this. All the controls are positioned where they can be easily accessed by the driver without taking attention from the road. The best part is the line of buttons down the center stack that includes functions for audio, seats, and climate control. It looks rather like the controls in an airplane. The Corvette interior is really more like a cockpit than anything else. The infotainment screen bears this out as well with an orientation similar to a flight control panel. It includes performance settings, camera layouts, and much more.

These three features of the Chevy Corvette are among the best, but it’s not even scratching the surface of the full list of cool features on the car. Check out a new Corvette in person at your Chevrolet dealer for more!
