Chevy’s First ‘Pursuit-Rated’ Silverado Police Vehicle is Every Bad Guy’s Nightmare

Chevy Silverado

Chevy is giving police departments more power and performance with the new 2023 Chevy Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle, the brand’s first pursuit-rated Silverado. So what can we expect out of this off-roading beast that unfortunately won’t be available to the general public? Let’s take a closer look at the features and tech specs Silverado PPV has to offer.

First Impressions: 2023 Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle

In both performance and design, the Silverado PPV Is essentially a Trail Boss custom turned into a police pursuit vehicle. The impressive features which are rolled into a powerfully upgraded Silverado make this truck an undeniably exciting addition to police pursuit vehicles.

Vehicle Specs

The 2023 Silverado PPV is a powerhouse of a crew cab built for offroading, pursuits, and emergency situations. Under the hood, there’s a powerful 5.3 L V8 engine that delivers 355 horsepower and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sticking closely to the Trail Boss custom design, officers will find an all-wheel-drive powertrain and a maximum towing capacity of 9,300.

Performance

The impressive powertrain is matched with comparable performance. There are several great features designed with off-roading in mind. A skid plate, Rancho shocks, and an available 2-inch lift option all lend well to the Silverado PPV’s offroading capabilities. Law enforcement agencies will have the ability to increase ground clearance to 11.4 making this the ideal pursuit police vehicle for off-roading. For police departments near the border, and in other mountainous regions, this model aims to serve a need.

20-inch custom blacked-out wheels and of course all-terrain tires also aim to meet that off-road demand. There is a locking rear differential and bigger brakes to help with immediate stopping. Unlike the Trail Boss custom’s 13-inch rotors, the Silverado PPV will feature an impressive 16-inch front rotor system to help you get that immediate stopping capability.

Interior Design and Specialty Equipment

On the inside of the Silverado PPV, you’ll find a very similar offering as the Trail Boss Custom model. The sleek interior emphasizes specialty equipment upfitting options as opposed to tech gadgets that would traditionally be found in Silverados available to the public. Also,  explore used Chevy Silverado selections.

Chevy understands that the needs of police departments change from location to location. That’s why the Silverado PPV will allow departments to tailor their specialty equipment to the truck.

Departments will have the ability to install special equipment like horns, sirens, and lighting through the surveillance mode circuit and the axillary wiring circuit. Agencies will even have the ability to delete the front center seat so as to use space in the truck in a manner they see best.

The Silverado PPV does come with standard head and tail lamp flashers, however, there are all sorts of ways to customize lighting including the incorporation of LED or halogen spot lamps.

When Will You Spot the Silverado PPV on the Road?

Following Chevrolet’s announcement of the new Silverado PPV, the public can expect to begin spotting this beast on American and Canadian roads during the summer of 2022.

The trucks certainly serve a need in mountainous terrains and in areas where off-roading police pursuits are more likely to occur. Still, the performance and impressive offerings of the Silverado PPV might make this one of the most sought-after police pursuit vehicles in the nation.
