Luxury Driving on a Budget

Looking for a luxury car that doesn’t have a luxury car price tag? If you are, then the used market is the best place to look.

The good news is that many luxury vehicles depreciate quickly, which means you don’t have to wait forever to get a modern luxury vehicle for an affordable price.

Let’s take a look at some popular luxury models that can save you a lot of money on the used market.

Audi A3

The Audi A3 is a luxury sedan with a small and sporty design. It also comes as a convertible. As with most of the Audi lineup, the A3 features a high-quality interior, sharp handling, and a nice choice of powerful engines. The A3 isn’t particularly roomy in the rear seat or the trunk, but for those not looking for a family vehicle, the A3 is a good luxury choice. Used Audi A3 models can go for as low as $20,000, depending on how far back you go and the options you get.

BMW 750i

The full-size 750i is one of the more popular performance luxury brands out there with impressive acceleration and handling for such a large car. The BWM 750i offers several different engine choices from a base turbo six-cylinder to a twin-turbo V12. It’s hard to go wrong with any of these powerful selections. You’ll have to go back pretty far to find one of these cars under $20,000, but you can still save quite a bit over new with models that are five to six years old.

Lexus ES 350

The Lexus ES 350 is not the most exciting luxury car available, but it’s safe, reliable, and comfortable. It also features a truly luxurious interior and a strong V6 engine that gives you both performance and fuel efficiency. If you want even better fuel economy, you can also get the ES Hybrid, which has ratings of 40 MPG in the city. As Lexus is the Toyota luxury brand, it’s no surprise that this car holds its value quite well, so you may have to go back six years or more to find one under $20,000.

Infiniti Q50

The compact Q50 is an underrated luxury sedan made by Nissan’s luxury division. It often falls into the shadow of more popular brands like Lexus and BMW, but the Q50 is a fun-to-drive sedan with a balanced ride, nice choice of engines, and agile handling. Finding a Q50 under $20,000 means you’ll have to go back to at least 2015, if not earlier.

Cadillac CTS

Like the Q50, the used Cadillac CTS sedan is a bit of a sleeper. Sure, it’s from a well-known luxury brand, but the CT5 is a midsize sedan that tends to fall under the radar. It offers a classic design, comfortable interior, and impressive performance. No matter what configuration you get, the used Cadillac CTS sedan is fun to drive and features excellent safety ratings. Getting a used Cadillac CTS sedan under $20,000 is easy to do if you go back about five years or so from the current model.

Buying a used luxury car is an underrated but excellent way to get a great deal on a car with all the modern touches you’d expect. If you have a bit more to spend, you can also move up to higher trims while still paying a lot less than brand new.
