At the top of any lineup, especially those of the luxury brand names, care must be given to have the right style and attitude in a vehicle. If a car is to be a luxury cruiser that can carry the owner in the rear seat from one place to another in posh style, but it also must have the features desired for comfort and performance. The secret is many of the owners of these top models don’t want to be driven around and only do so when entertaining clients or absolutely necessary. The plan is to build it in South Carolina (another nod to how small the globe has become) and use the same platform as the 7-Series sedan. Overall the look should be that of a larger X5, which is currently the top model in the lineup. Under the hood we will likely see a range of engines including a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder model, a 4.4-liter V8 and a 6.0-liter V12. Because of the BMW development into hybrid vehicles it’s likely we could see a plug-in hybrid version of the X7, but that will certainly depend upon the range the vehicle has to offer.
The X7 is expected to be on the market in 2018 and we should see a production version of the vehicle make the show tour in 2017.
