What to Know About the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Plug-In Hybrid

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is getting a new powertrain option. You’ll soon be able to get a plug-in hybrid version of this popular compact SUV, and it offers impressive electric-only driving range. Volkswagen calls the hybrid version of the Tiguan the eHybrid, and it’s already available overseas. We’ll have to wait a little longer to see it here in the states, but with any luck it will arrive on Volkswagen lots sometime soon.

What’s The Powertrain for the Plug-In Hybrid?

The Tiguan is one of the best-selling Volkswagen models, so what can you do to make a great car even better? Offer it as a hybrid. While the details are still yet to be confirmed, it’s likely that when it arrives, it will have a best-in-class all-electric range of 62 miles. This is 62 miles you can drive on electric power before the gas engine needs to kick in.

The European version of the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan will have plenty of engine choices. But the one we’re focusing on is the plug-in hybrid. A new long-range battery is what makes the difference in terms of range for this version of the Tiguan, and what’s even better is it will also have fast-charging capabilities, which means less time waiting to charge the battery and more time driving.

A New Tiguan from Top to Bottom

The plug-in hybrid 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is all new from top to bottom. It’s longer than before, increasing cargo capacity to 2.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats, and this is for the European model. The U.S. version is even larger, so if it makes its way over here, there will be even more room.

The interior of the Tiguan is redesigned, too. It has VW’s Digital Cockpit with a 15-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard to house the infotainment system, and a multifunction OLED display in front of the driver. It comes standard with USB-C ports, for plugging in extra devices that don’t fit on the charging pad, and there’s a head-up display available for added convenience.

Safety Systems All Around

Of course, the latest Volkswagen Tiguan will have a long list of standard and available safety systems. From front assist emergency braking to lane departure assist, and a rearview camera system, you’ll always know what is going on around you. If you miss something, such as the person in front of you suddenly stopping, or a change in the speed limit, your Tiguan has cameras and sensors that don’t miss anything.

Premium Features at an Affordable Price

The new 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan will bring premium features and luxuries that are normally found in vehicles with higher price tags. One of these is Volkswagen’s ergoActive Plus seats. These seats offer the ultimate experience in comfort with pneumatic four-way lumbar adjustments and a 10-chamber pressure massaging function. Take a seat in one of these and you’ll never want to get out. Drivers can even set the heated and ventilated seats to a certain temperature, so they automatically respond to the outside temperatures.
