Now available at Kia dealers, the Kia EV6 GT is a fairly impressive performance EV with a decent driving range, engaging driving dynamics, a roomy interior, and a nice amount of active safety features. Its cons include a smaller-than-average cargo hold, a high price tag for the class, and dashboard controls that aren’t exactly user-friendly.
What the Kia EV6 GT Does Well
The Kia EV6 GT offers up to 206 miles of driving range while also featuring energetic performance and agile handling. Inside, you’ll find plenty of room for five people and a lot of modern tech features. The cabin looks attractive and feels comfortable. The EV6 GT also gets high marks for safety, including its allotment of driver-assistance features and very good crash-test results.
The GT is the top trim of the EV6, and if you’re looking for some thrills with your EV, the EV6 GT makes 576 horsepower, which is good enough for the most powerful production car ever made by Kia. The EV6 GT can go from zero to 60 MPH in only 3.4 seconds. It also has a top speed of 161 MPH.
However, that high performance does come with a price. The EV6 GT only gets 79 MPGe compared to the base EV6’s 117 MPGe. This is comparatively low among new EVs. But it probably goes without saying that no one buys a performance car, EV or not, for high efficiency. And that 79 MPGe is still better than any comparable gas-powered vehicle.
What Could Be Better
There are a few spots where the Kia EV6 GT could be a bit better. The first one that’s likely to give customers pause is the price. This performance trim starts at just under $61,600. However, given its long list of features and thrilling performance, you could argue that it’s worth this price tag.
The other issue in the Kia EV6 GT is its convoluted dashboard controls. The lack of physical buttons means you get only a single row of haptic controls that control both audio and climate. It can be distracting to switch between the two while driving.
While the EV6 GT cabin is very spacious for passengers, it lacks room in the cargo area compared to many rivals. It’s still probably utilitarian for most families, but if you want a lot of room for cargo, the EV6 GT doesn’t have it.

Ultimately, the Kia EV6 GT benefits from high build quality, a well-rounded blend of desirable features, and astonishingly high performance. If you can get past the high price tag and somewhat lowered efficiency compared to the other trims, the EV6 GT makes for an exciting EV that is extremely fun to drive.
