Genesis Confirms a GV80 Coupe and Shows Off a New Badge

Genesis has confirmed a new GV80 Coupe that could arrive for the 2025 model year. This new coupe-style SUV could add to the popularity of this new SUV body.

If the high-end German luxury brands have done it, other luxury brand often follow suit. The new GV80 Coupe is a necessity if the brand intends to compete with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. This new version of the GV80 will become the sportier alternative to the current model, which is a midsize luxury SUV with all the trimmings.

The powertrain will likely remain

The new shape of a sportier coupe-style SUV doesn’t mean the new model will take on a more powerful setup. We expect to see the new GV80 Coupe with the same twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s become part of the GV80 lineup. The base 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine might not be offered in the Coupe. Usually, coupe-style SUVs come with singular powertrains because they generate low sales figures for their brands. Still, if Genesis intends to compete with the big boys, a coupe-style midsize SUV is a must and will give the brand the build and presence desired.

A new logo has been spotted

Could Genesis bring a new logo to the market? Its entirely possible. This luxury brand has only been in operation for a handful of years, but that won’t stop the development of a new logo that could be featured on the hood of this new luxury SUV. The new emblem is darker and more two-dimensional than the chrome badge that we see on current Genesis models. Could this new logo be singular to the new Genesis GV80 Coupe or will it be something shared across the lineup and on every model.

The concept shown could be huge for Genesis

Making the new GV80 Coupe a sportier version of the current model is genius. The concept brought to the New York Auto Show came in with a gorgeous four-seat interior and an orange exterior paint called Magma. This concept model featured racing-style bucket seats to give us an idea of what could be possible with this sporty SUV. Of course, we expect it to be dialed down when the bean counters get hold of this vehicle and tell the design team what they can have in this new SUV. Fingers crossed that it won’t change much.

What if you don’t want to wait for the GV80 Coupe?

If you’re not willing to wait for the new Genesis GV80 Coupe to arrive, you could enjoy the current model. It’s not offered with a coupe-style roof, or the sporty Magma paint color, but it does have several great items that could make it right for you. Here are a few.

An optional third-row seat

Some GV80 owners need three rows of seats, other don’t want them at all. Instead of stuffing three rows in and telling us that’s the only way it comes, Genesis offers the third-row seat as an option in the 3.5T Advanced+ trim. This means you can have this desired level of versatility if you want.

Remote Smart Parking Assist

This impressive feature makes it easy to put your vehicle where you want. No longer will you get out of your SUV and see that you’ve parked crookedly in the spot. This feature has a button on the key fob that allows the GV80 to get itself into and out of parking spots. This could be a real gam changer for you.

Check out that large infotainment screen

Every model of the Genesis GV80 includes a 14.5-inch infotainment screen. This screen is where you’ll see the apps you use via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM. You’ll also find four USB ports and an impressive Lexicon 21-speaker audio system that make it easy to get in and enjoy the connectivity of this SUV.

The GV80 makes driving easier

Its not the sporty drive we expect in the new Genesis GV80 Coupe, but the Highway Driving Assist system can make your drive more pleasant. This system combines adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and other highway driving features to help you feel more relaxed behind the wheel.

Will you wait for the new Genesis GV80 Coupe to arrive or will you choose the current GV80 with its more upright roofline and build? Either way, you’ll find an impressive luxury SUV that delivers the drive and features you want to enjoy every day.
