2022 Chrysler Voyager Will Be Available As a Fleet-Only Model

Families looking for a new minivan won’t be able to buy the new Chrysler Voyager in the 2022 model year. Chrysler announced that this model would only be available to fleet buyers. Those looking for a private-sale minivan still have the Chrysler Pacifica as an option, which offers a more premium driving experience.

Why The Move To Fleet?

There hasn’t been an official statement on the exact strategy behind making the Chrysler Voyager an option only for fleets. While fleets encompass many different things, fleet minivans are typically purchased by rental car companies. That doesn’t mean corporations and other fleet-buyers won’t be interested, but all signs point to companies like Avis, Hertz, etc., to be the largest consumers of the new Voyager.

In making a move to fleet-only, Chrysler also paired down the Voyager from three trims to a single trim option: the LX. This simplification will make it easier for Chrysler to pump out new models to meet the expected high demand of this price-conscious minivan.

The Chrysler Voyager was first introduced in 2019 as a less-expensive option to the updated Pacifica. Most drivers saw the Voyager as a renamed version of the Pacifica’s previous models.

Impressive Equipment

The Chrysler Voyager may only be available in one trim, but it still comes with a pretty impressive collection of features. It will come with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Chrysler’s Uconnect 5 software. There will also be a 10.1-inch touchscreen available with built-in navigation.

Drivers will also get to enjoy the famous Chrysler stow-n-go seats, power-operated sliding doors, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and more. It’s easy to see why this minivan will be a popular rental option across the country.

There are also some pretty impressive add-ons that fleet-buyers might explore to offer a more premium ride. The host of driver-assist features is one of the most highly-anticipated areas for upgrades:

  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Rear cross-path detection
  • Full-speed forward collision warnings
  • Automatic emergency braking

There are no mechanical changes to the Chrysler Voyager. That means this minivan will still be powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces a solid 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The nine-speed automatic transmission only comes with front-wheel drive as AWD will no longer be an option. Drivers shouldn’t expect to see any significant visual changes to the Voyager either.

The Voyager Isn’t Gone

It may seem like minivan models are in decline. While there aren’t as many options as there once were, there are still plenty of powerful minivan models out there. The Chrysler Pacifica, for example, is rated at the top of its class. You can also find great options from Kia, Honda, Toyota, and more.

Families who still love the value of the Chrysler Voyager aren’t completely out of luck. There are still plenty of new, certified pre-owned, and used Voyager options available today. The 2022 model is the only version that will be available exclusively for fleets.

In the future, drivers can take advantage of fleet sales to potentially pick up a used Voyager at a great price. Until then, keep your eyes open for the Voyager to be a rental option on your next vacation.
