Honda Shows Up Big in the Indy Car Circuit

Honda is one of the brands that we see participating in the Indy Car races that take place every weekend around the world.

Seeing a brand that you know perform well on the track might not cause you to go out and buy a model from that brand, but there are some of us who have serious brand loyalty that spills over to motor racing. Nearly every brand of vehicle on the market today is involved on some level in racing around the world and Honda is no exception.

A Recent Win for Honda

The Honda Indy Car team features Ryan Hunter-Reay as the driver of the car that’s been making a lot of noise at the tracks this year. This year, Hunter-Reay has been able to find the way to victory lane twice, one of which was a recent win at Sonoma. This finish in Sonoma marked the eighteenth win of his career in a race that he started from the pole and made it around the track to be the fastest in the crowd as he made his way across the line first.

The Grand Prix Win

Not only was the Honda car and Hunter-Reay the team that won at Sonoma, but they also dominated the race. This car led 80 of the 85 laps of the race, leaving all others behind and watching the rear of the car for most of the race. Scott Dixon, another Honda driver, finished second to earn himself a record-tying fifth Indy Car Series Drivers’ Championship at this race. This win at Sonoma also marked the 11thrace won by one of the Hondacars this year which earned the company its seventh Indy Car Manufacturers’ Championship since 1994.

A Bit of a Drop Off for One Honda Driver

While Dixon and Hunter-Reay were dominating this race, a third Honda driver, Alexander Rossi didn’t have quite the same level of luck. Entering the race, Rossi trailed Dixon by 29 points in the standings but he sustained damage to his front wing and tire when he collided with Marco Andretti on the opening lap. Unfortunately, the car never recovered and Rossi was a lap down around the midpoint of the race and never quite made it to the front, but did fight his way through the field to finish in seventh.

Let Honda Racing Amaze You

If you’re a fan of Indy Car Racing, the results from Honda for this year can certainly capture your attention and make you see this is a brand that has what you want to see on the track. With these three drivers and several teams that make use of the Honda cars for the racing, you can see how dominant this brand has become in the Indy Car circuit. Whether seeing Honda at the front of these races makes you want to buy a Honda or not, it’s easy to see just how successful this brand is on this racing circuit.
