You don’t think of racing when you think of the Toyota brand, but you should because this brand is making a lot of noise.
The Toyota Racing Development team has been making a huge impact on the racing world and has entries in nearly every racing series you can think of. Recently, this brand was the one to have drivers score top finishes across six of the series, making it a weekend to remember for the Toyota racing teams. This means that right now, Toyota is the most dominant brand in the racing world and one that certainly offers the power and the drive on the track that we can admire.
Toyota in NASCAR
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event in New Hampshire saw two of the Camry drivers make their way into the top five. KyleBusch placed second and Martin Truex, Jr. made it to fourth in the standings for the race. With these finishes, the two remain first and third in Cup Series points in the standings. This result was certainly a banner day for the Toyota brand at this racetrack where the drivers made it near the front.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, held on the same track, Toyota driver Christopher Bell found a way to win back-to-back victories. He won the race in New Hampshire after having won at the Kentucky Speedway only a week prior. This win was enough to launch Bell into second in the NXS points standing and bring him the lead for the Playoff points with 18 marks. There were three Toyota drivers that finished in the top ten on Wednesday during the Camping World Truck Series race in Ohio, making it a great start to the week leading into the weekend for the Toyota brand that has seen a great degree of success recently.
The Brand in NHRA
The Mac Tools/Toyota dragster that was driven by Dough Kalitta was able to finish in the front of the Top Fuels finals in Denver on Sunday. This marked the fourth final round appearance for this team Cruz Pedregon was able to pilot his Camry to the lead in the Funny Car division and advanced to the second round before he suffered a problem with the engine in the car. There’s no telling where he might have ended up had he not suffered engine troubles as he was making a run for the lead.
Toyota in Formula DRIFT
The fun and active drive offered of the Formula DRIFT series saw the Toyota 86 of Ryan Tuerckas the winner which made it possible for him to move up four spots in the standings to sixth overall. The Toyota Corolla hatchback that was driven by Fredric Aasbo was also found in the top ten with a ninth-place finish at the Evergreen Speedway near Seattle. This finish allows Aasbo to continue to be second in points in the Formula DRIFT standings, offering strong performances for the Toyota brand during this series.
The IMSA Model
Little Rick Park was the location for the IMSA WeatherTeck SportsCar Championship where the Lexus RC F GT3 that was raced by drivers Jack Hawksworth and Mario Farnbacher came in fifth in the GTD class. The other Lexus car offered for the racing over the weekend saw the team of Dominik Baumann and Kyle Marcelli to make their way to the seventh-place spot during the racing. This makes a pair of top-ten finishes for the brand, giving Toyota a large number of amazing finishes during the racing.
If you didn’t think Toyota was into racing, think again, they’ve been a strong performer for a long time.
