The Humvee has been the iconic military truck for over thirty years which can go anywhere and drive in four-wheel drive over the terrain while even changing the landscape whenever possible. The Humvee is one of the most recognized vehicles in the world and stands for military toughness and American grit. These vehicles have been outfitted in a variety of ways with guns mounted on top and in the back of the vehicle while other versions have been armored to the hilt to protect those riding inside. While many of these vehicles have seen massive combat action some only tooled around the bases here in the US.
Even though this vehicle has been the symbol of American toughness for many years, the Department of Defense has chosen to move on from these vehicles and begin to use a new model that will carry troops wherever they need to go. This leaves them with a surplus of these vehicles that need to be disposed of in some way and instead of trying to melt them down for scrap or recycling. What they’ve chosen to do is sell these vehicles to the public, with some stipulations of course.
Right now you can buy a Humvee on the Gov Planet site which is the official website that has the authority to auction off these vehicles. The price for these vehicles will start at $4,000 for a stripped down model that goes up to nearly $35,000 for a vehicle that’s still fully operational and full of amazing ability for you to enjoy. The bid process is easy to use and straightforward with the only stipulation being that you sign a “End Use Certificate” to agree not to take the vehicle overseas once you own it. So far this sounds like a fairly easy way to buy one of the most admired military vehicles in the world, but there’s more.
Some of the Humvees on the site are listed as off road only meaning they don’t have the hardware or features to be able to ride on the street. Some can’t pass a DMV emissions inspection test either. If you do happen to find one that’s street legal you have to figure out how to register the vehicle and make it worthy of riding around on the street. This process can be lengthy and require you to jump through some hoops, but if you really want to have a Humvee on the road as your occasional driver, this is the site to visit and find the Humvee of your choice.
Of course if you wanted some other government vehicle such as construction items including generators, excavators, cranes and forklifts you can find these at Gov Planet as well, but the focus is on finding the Humvee that will be way you want it to be. How will you use yours once you win the bid on Gov Planet and have an LMTV of your own to put in your garage and have a great time riding around in the outdoors?
