When you think of a day out in Paris you might think of a romantic walk with the Eiffel Tower in the background or a visit to some of the most historic museums and sights in the world, but what you typically don’t think of is amazing automotive presentation on a stage that gives us a look at the future of some brands. This year the Paris Motor Show gave us such a look with some companies working toward seriously aggressive concepts while others looked to keep their looks classy and stylish. Here are five of the top concepts that made their way across the stage in Paris.
Volkswagen I.D. – Volkswagen has talked extensively about offering us a new concept in Paris that would be the next step toward turning their brand around. This VW concept will be the beginning of their EV lineup and give us a futuristic look although this concept will not be the exact look and feel that will make its way to the production line, but with an electric motor that gives this car 167 horsepower and the ability to drive as much as 372 miles it’s easy to see why this car was one of the favorites at this show.
Hyundai RN30 – This is a concept that shows us the next direction for Hyundai. Now that they have a luxury brand in Genesis, the next step is to move into the performance market and the RN30 is the concept vehicle that looks like it could do just that. What this car brings is a high powered turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s set up to suck out every single horsepower it can and put all that power right to the wheels to give you a ride that can feel like a top end sports car.
Lexus UX – this concept is one that certainly offers a differentiation of opinions with a high ride height and futuristic looks to go along with the new style that Lexus is trying out. This was one of the most extreme designs at the show and gave us a look at a more angular design than we’ve seen on any other vehicle so far. On the inside the UX looks even more polarizing than on the outside and this certainly won’t be the production model, but imagine giving your grandparents a ride in this vehicle, that would be more than just a bit entertaining.
Citroen CXperience – This car offers you smooth panels with built in angles to be sharply designed but also curved in shape. This is an impressive blend of both the attractive look of curves paired with the designs you want to see up front such as LED lights. This is a car that showed up in Paris as a plug-in hybrid that offers up to 300 horsepower and no emissions with an EV range of 37 miles to be great for driving in the city or heading out on the highway in this highly attractive wagon concept.
Renault Trezor – The most impressively unique and attractive concept to be on stage at the show was the Trezor. This is a car that looks like a sharply curved racing machine that could find its way on the road as well. Getting in this car was a dramatic event in itself as the entire top of the car opens up for you to get in, which allows for the wrap around windshield to be used and no A-pillars to be in place. This is an all-electric concept that can be driven autonomously and brings in 350 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque.
