For 2024, the Kia Sorento is getting a big update with an off-road X-Pro trim and a facelift. These changes provide more of what you’ll want in this Kia SUV.
The 2.5-liter turbo and non-turbo engines will carry over into 2024, but the hybrid models won’t get the facelift until later in 2024 for the 2025 model year. The Sorento’s interior is also updated with a new infotainment system. The 2024 Kia Sorento should be available in the first quarter of 2024.
Facelift and New Interior Details
The new version of the Kia Sorento will be arriving in dealerships within the next few months. It features a revamped front and rear exterior, as well as new features for the interior, and a new off-road trim called the X-Pro. In the front, the Kia Sorento reveals new headlights and a reshaped grille. In the rear, the more modern taillight design stands out. There are also some new wheel designs and two new exterior colors.
For the interior, the Kia Sorento gets a larger infotainment screen, plus new software that adds connectivity features and menu organization. Wireless smartphone connectivity is now standard on every trim level with the 12.3-inch touchscreen. Higher trims offer a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster as well.
All the previous trim levels carry over into the 2024 model years. However, there is a new package called the X-Pro. This trim of sorts is positioned to add more off-road upgrades above and beyond the X-Line option. The latter option is just an appearance package that does nothing for the vehicle’s capability.
X-Pro Breakdown and Powertrains
The X-Pro does more than add an appearance package. It features 17-inch wheels with BFG all-terrain tires, plus a skid plate and roof rack. Unlike the X-Line, the X-Pro option can only be checked for the SX-P trim, which means it’s likely to be pretty pricey. The X-Line is still available for AWD versions of the EX, SX, and SX-P trims.
There won’t be any powertrain changes for the Kia Sorento. The base engine is still a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that makes 191 horsepower. It continues to be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The upgraded engine option is still the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 281 horsepower. This engine is standard on the three top trims.
Both engines are offered on Sorento trims where FWD is standard, but AWD is an option on all models. The hybrid Sorento won’t see any of these upgrades until the 2025 model year, which means it won’t be available until late 2024.
What’s Next For the Kia Sorento?
An update to the hybrid Sorento is coming up next. For 2024, the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models carry over from the 2023 model year. The 2025 hybrid Sorento will offer the same exterior facelift as the regular Sorento. Like the regular Sorento, the powertrains are expected to remain the same.
Kia is saying that the 2025 Sorento hybrid and plug-in hybrid models will get a new Dust Blue interior upholstery option, but the automaker hasn’t revealed what models can have this option. Pricing for the facelifted 2024 non-hybrid models hasn’t been released yet either. They’re expected to go up somewhat from the 2023 Sorento.
The new Kia Sorento features a bold refresh that is sure to capture new and old fans alike.
