Hyundai Introduces Carbon Fiber Wheels To N Models
When Hyundai introduced the Ioniq 5 N recently at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the 21-inch carbon fiber wheels were hiding in the corner with Dymag and N Performance branding. It wasn’t clear then whether the wheels would be available for purchase at a Hyundai dealer, and right now they’re still prototypes. However, it appears that Dymag (a performance wheel maker from the UK) is collaborating with Hankuk Carbon (South Korea) to make carbon hybrid wheels for N Performance products.
The announcement is somewhat unexpected, but Hyundai likes to surprise the industry of late. No one expected the Ioniq 5 N to feature 600 bhp and a Torque Kick Drift option either. The new carbon wheels are actually carbon hybrid wheels, which means that it has a carbon fiber outer rim and a forged metal center. The end result should be a wheel that is roughly 40% to 50% lighter than a cast aluminum wheel.
