The teasers for the new Kia EV6 were tantalizing and offer the look we’re going to enjoy when this new electric SUV arrives in the market.
There is no denying automakers are finding great ways to make electric and hybrid vehicles more enticing. The new EV6 will be the first dedicated electric SUV riding in the new E-GMP platform from the Hyundai Motor Group. This new crossover should prove to give us another great option when looking for an electric vehicle to drive.
The Shape is Somewhat Familiar
Even though Kia used shadowy images with simple shapes and silhouettes, we can see the shape of this new SUV appears to be extremely similar to the new Hyundai Ioniq 5. That does make some sense since the two models will share a platform and work to stretch out the definition of crossover in our market. We see a low-slung shape with a tapered roofline that will give this SUV the style we can admire.
Benefits of the Platform for the Kia EV6
If the actual vehicle is anything like the shape, the new EV6 will likely have wheels that are pushed to the edges of the shape to give us the most interior space possible. This is what we already see in the Ioniq 5 and know that this style feature allows for the most stability on the road as well. This could make driving the new EV6 a pleasure for you.
The Front Style of this Kia
The new Kia electric SUV features thin headlights with LED “eyeliner” lights that stretch past the lights to give this front end an attractive style. Instead of the traditional Tiger Grille, the front shows a blacked-out panel between the lights, which might signal a style change for the brand. The new Kia logo sits prominently in the center of the hood to give you a completely modern frontend.
Going Around to the Rear of the Kia EV6
The rear area of the EV6 is truly interesting. This area gives you a full-width taillight that blends with a ducktail spoiler to offer a seriously unique style to this vehicle. The lights offer segmented LED hash marks that bring a special look to them. These lights stretch down to the wheel arches, giving a complete look to the rear of the vehicle.
Power is Still a Mystery
We don’t quite know the power offering or range of the new Kia EV6 but we think it just might mirror the Ioniq 5 to give you the power and drive you desire. We expect to see the same 800-volt architecture as in the Hyundai model to give you the drive you desire. Expect this new SUV to give you around 300 miles on a full charge.
The new 2022 Kia EV6 will arrive at dealerships later in the spring to give you a new SUV that you’ll want to drive. As we come closer to the release date, we will learn much more about this new SUV and what it can be for you to enjoy during your drive.
