The BMW brand wants you to look at their SUV models and use a different vowel for the name to replace the U in SUV. What they want is for you to start thinking of their models that stand taller and offer a more versatile cabin as SAVs which stands for Sport Active Vehicle.
Introducing the BMW X2
The latest model to be offered certainly makes a strong argument for the activity you can expect to find when you take it out on the road for the drive that you’ll want to have when it’s time to go where you need to. The new BMW X2 offers a fresh look from the front to the rear while maintaining the classic BMW feeling and features that make it a vehicle that can be right for your drive.
This model shares a platform with the X1 that we’ve already enjoyed but don’t expect it to share much more than that. In fact, the project director of the X2 stated there are only two exterior parts that are the same as the X1, the door handles and the antenna, otherwise, we have a vehicle that’s completely different from the model it rides with on the same platform.

Not meant for utility, but built for activity, the new BMW X2 is certainly the smallest model in this group to make it possible for you to have the ride you’re looking for. The wheelbase is shared with the X1, but the X2 is shorter in height and length by nearly three-inches in every direction to give you a more agile, lower to the ground, active driving vehicle that can be used for cargo carrying and sporty driving to wherever you need to go when it’s time to have the experience you want on the weekends.
The goal of the X2 is to appeal to a crowd that spends most of its time in the city, but it certainly can be an impressive vehicle that offers the drive and the qualities desired for everyone to enjoy the ride on the roads. There is a pair of exterior trim packages available to give you a look you want with body-colored trim and black trim items to offer an upgraded appearance for the drive you’ll make.
Qualities You’ll Admire in the X2
The seating position is lower than in the X1, which makes it feel sportier from the start. When this new model makes its way to the North American market it will be powered by the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This should give us 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which is more than enough to get this vehicle moving.
This new SAV will be offered at dealers in the early part of March and is one that can offer you the BMW dynamics you want in a vehicle that’s versatile, active, and ready to drive wherever you want to go. Make sure you don’t make the mistake of calling it an SUV when you shop for the new BMW X2.
