One of the most recent sub-compact crossover SUVs to make it to the market is being updated and ready to be to able head out on the road in a new fashion. Just a couple years ago the new Toyota C-HR became the smallest member of the Toyota SUV family which is a vehicle that has the style the performance and the reliability desired to have a great ride on the roads in a vehicle that has the versatility and capability needed. This small SUV has been such a huge sales success in the hybrid form that it has spurned Toyota to create a new version.
The New Model
The newest model of the C-HR is they Hy-Power model which has been shown off in concept form to give us a look at what Toyota has envisioned for the next level of its hybrid technology. This new concept is bold, rides on impressive 20-inch wheels, has a matte “Dark Carbon Silver” paint scheme with contrasting accent colors that are painted in both gloss black and orange and has the drivetrain that may be what Toyota is ready to show off for the future of this brand.
Over the years the Toyota name has been the leader in hybrid technology and the hybrid models that have been sold in great numbers by this brand have been able to offer us longer drives with fuel sipping technology but one glaring reality has been present. While many of the hybrid models we see on the market in recent years from other brand have been offered as more dynamic, sporty and powerful models, Toyota has continued to focus on the fuel sipping of its lineup. With the new C-HR Hy-Power, that could be a thing of the past as the brand works to bring more power from the drivetrains offered.
While we have no specifics regarding the powertrain, Toyota states this new hybrid is more powerful than the 122 PS powered hybrid model we already have on the road. This new model is being built on the TNGA architecture which is what Toyota is using nearly across the board when it comes to the new models we’ll see on the roads in the next few years. This new Hy-Power model has been created in the Toyota design studio in the south of France to be one that’s offered in the European market when it initially arrives.
Familiar Positioning
On the inside of the cabin, there aren’t many changes except for the fact that you’ll see some vibrant orange accent items. The reason this cabin hasn’t been updated much is that the C-HR is a fairly new model already and the only upgrades desired for this vehicle were in the powertrain. The new Toyota C-HR Hy-Power will tell Toyota if they are on the right track and need to continue to look for more higher performing hybrid models that can be offered in the future on the market from the brand that has led the way in hybrid models for the past couple decades.
