The goals set for by the Hyundai CRADLE team is to allow Hyundai to expand into new and adjacent markets with the goal of improving transportation on and off the road. Right now, the plan is to allow the CRADLE team to work in Silicon Valley and work on the technology we want to see and enjoy in a variety of ways. Eventually, this team will be expanded to develop innovation and a variety of concepts that can be applied around the world and give every market a more viable and technology-driven lifestyle.
Functions and Themes
There are three primary functions of CRADLE for Hyundai which are: strategic venture capital, open collaboration with the startup community, and early-stage new concept development. This will be accomplished with a focus on five different themes that are going to make sure we can have the benefits from this team. These five different themes are:

- Mobility services
- Materials and manufacturing technology
- New vehicle

Previously the team was kept in-house to work on what was needed, which could stifle the growth and innovation. By understanding the need to explore other influences to effectively enter other industries and develop a growth plan for vehicles, Hyundai has made it possible for their brand to be responsible for more of the technology we love.
