The old saying “Desperate times call for desperate measures” is meant to motivate us when things get tough and it feels as if all the chips are down and the world is against us. When you’re backs against the wall and you have to fight your way to the next step or to come up out of the bottom of your world it can feel great to face the adversity and come out on top. Along the way, you might choose to do something drastic or dangerous that could, in all likelihood, harm others, but hopefully you don’t.
The video linked below is evidence of someone taking a desperate measure. We don’t know why this person is doing what they are, but they seem to have a need to get somewhere and don’t think they need to have all four wheels in order to get where they’re going. This video could serve a few different purposes, giving us a look into a small portion of someone’s life where they drove down the road with a vehicle that doesn’t have all of what it needs to have at all to get where they’re going.
In the video you’ll see a Volkswagen Jetta sedan on the highway with only three working wheels. The front driver’s side wheel is nothing more than the wheel with hardly any tire on it at all. Without the tire it’s easy to hear the grinding of the rim on the pavement, but somehow this Jetta is heading wherever the driver needs to go. Not only is this driver moving without a tire, they are doing so on only three wheels, making this a vehicle that shouldn’t be on the road at all. Amazingly the driver is moving at nearly 75 mph on the highway, which is simply insane.
You can say this is a testament to the German engineering of the Jetta; you can say the driver must have a life or death situation to get to; you can eve admire the fact that the car seems to be travelling so fast with very little in the way of trouble along the way, but this is simply insane. Going this fast without one of the wheels could result in serious injury or death to not only the driver of the Jetta, but to those on the highway with them who could be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
We’ve all taken chances when driving, but many of us have probably never tried what you see in this video. Hopefully they got where they needed to go without hurting themselves or anyone else in the process. This is certainly something that self-driving cars might be able to avoid in the future as the vehicle may be programmed to drive only when everything is the way it should be with the vehicle before heading out. At the very least, let’s hope this driver was headed to a tire shop to get a new front tire put on so they could be safe on the road once again.
