We’ve seen the Camry parked on every street corner, parking lot and in every neighborhood in America. For some reason we love this car and it’s been a top seller for many years. For 2017 the Camry celebrates its 35th year on the market and is the car that we turn to more often than any other. This isn’t because the Camry does one thing well and forgets about the rest, it’s because the Camry is great at many things and is perfect for the driving more of us want to do on a daily basis.
Is the Camry a flashy car? Not at all. Does the Camry give you the most fuel mileage? Nope. Do you have the most driving pleasure when you drive the Camry? Not likely. While the Camry is simply a midsized sedan that is the best-selling on the market it’s hard to understand why when you consider what it doesn’t offer. What this car does offer is a reliable, reasonably efficient, easy driving experience that offers you great resale value and some of the best features on the market today. A car that can check off a lot of boxes for you, that’s the car you want to drive, which makes the Camry the perfect choice.
For 2017 there are only a few minor changes which include the addition of the Entune Audio Plus system that brings in a navigation app and a JBL audio experience for the XLE and XSE models along with a standard Qi wireless charger for compatible smartphones. While this car does offer you the quiet manners you want, a revised tuning of the suspension does make the Camry a car that you can take through corners with confidence, just don’t expect it to tear up the track, that’s not what the Camry is built for.
One reason the 2017 Camry is the most selected car to drive is the offering of several trims to choose from. There are four that make this a great car: LE, SE, XLE and XSE. The LE is the base model and you will have a backup camera, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, an infotainment system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen, USB and auxiliary ports, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free, traction and stability controls, ten airbags, a battery saver function and two years/25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance all as standard features.
Moving to the SE will give you improved cloth seats, a leather trimmed steering wheel, a sport tuned suspension and 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The XLE and XSE add even more features to the car to give you leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual zone climate controls, a larger display screen with navigation and the JBL audio system. The XSE offers the Ultrasuede leather interior, shift paddles, a sport suspension and 18-ich wheels. The XLE and XSE can also offer you blind spot monitoring, radar based cruise control, lane departure warning, and pre-collision braking. All models can be had with a moonroof for the view of the night sky.
As one of the most affordable models on the market today the Camry comes in with a base price of $23,905 and the SE starting at $24,675. Moving up to the XLE you will see the price jump to $27,145 and $33,415 if you choose the V6 engine. The Hybrid model starts at $27,625 with a fully loaded version reaching nearly $35,000 with every box checked.
Under the hood you have three engines to choose from. The base engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder model which produces 178 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. The second engine is a 3.5-liter V6 which offers a jump in horsepower to 368 and torque to 248 lb.-ft. Both these engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission giving you 24 city/33 hwy mpg for the four-cylinder and 21 city/30 hwy mpg in the V6.
The third engine is the hybrid offering which is the four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to give you 200 horsepower. This engine is mated to a CVT automatic and provides 42 city/38 hwy mpg for you to have the most efficient Camry on the market.
As you can see the Camry has a lot to offer and is easily the most popular car on the market today, giving you the drive you want and the reliability you need to be the right car for you.
