What is the Honda Clarity? If you haven’t heard of this car I’m not really too surprised, but it is the fuel cell model from Honda that was developed to give those who chose to make use of hydrogen for their fuel a great choice. This car comes with a beautiful build and a great interior, but is still not one that has become as popular as many of the gasoline models. This is due to the fact there aren’t a great number of hydrogen refueling stations in the country, but with the changes that are proposed more of us may begin to enjoy this excellent car.
What we have now learned is that this car will have three variations, making it one that can be sold nearly everywhere in the country. The first will be the Fuel Cell version which will run on hydrogen and will launch later this year to offer at least a 300 mile range from a full tank of hydrogen fuel. Currently the refueling stations for this vehicle are only found in California, which means a limited market for this car. The time to refuel will only be about five minutes and the car could be leased for as little as $500 per month.
Thankfully Honda isn’t going to keep a car that has sleek and stylish look, a high quality interior and features we want such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to only those in the California area. By 2018 we will see the Plug-In version of the Clarity which will offer us a driving range of nearly forty miles on only electricity with the backup of a hybrid engine that is extremely efficient. This is the car that will be the volume seller for the Clarity name and will certainly give it nationwide recognition and admiration.
Finally, the Clarity lineup will have a pure electric model called the Clarity Electric that will be a premium and affordable midsize sedan. Right now we don’t have details regarding the range expected, but this car is expected to go on sale in either 2017 or 2018, which could put it ahead of or at the same time as the Plug-In model. This should be a car that is built to compete with the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3 to be the car from Honda that offers the driving we want from a car that is powered by electricity.
By putting the fuel cell technology in a vehicle that more of us will want to drive Honda is showing its commitment to the program and offering a car that may be the future of volume automotive sales. If the range of the electric model can reach as high as 300 miles, this will be a car that can easily surpass the other models on the market for desire and following as we move into an era of responsible driving and clean fuels. If you are looking for a great way to get into a fuel efficient vehicle that offers you the ride you want, look for this name over the next couple years.
