Peugeot Design Lab has been responsible for several cars over the years and most of the time these cars were great little driving vehicles that gave Europeans cars that fit well in their cities and on their streets. Even though Peugeot has not been at the forefront of performance and doesn’t usually ring as a name that we see much from in the US, it’s a long standing company that garners a great deal of respect in the European arena and has been trusted with much more than just building cars that work well on the tiny city streets that are found in the cities throughout Europe.
The respect this name has is evident when you learn that Airbus, a highly regarded aeronautics company, has partnered with Peugeot to help create a new helicopter that will be revealed at the Dubai Airshow. This new helicopter is the H160 that is a medium utility helicopter meant for being a versatile and utility vehicle for transport of whatever is needed including those who have to be transported to a hospital for emergency care. This new helicopter is meant to be the next evolution to help advance aeronautics for Airbus.
Why would Airbus turn to Peugeot for this partnership? This actually isn’t the first time Peugeot has been part of the aerospace industry. For a time their talents were used in partnership with Dassault Aviation and Bombardier. In this case, the partnership with Airbus adds an all-composite airframe, a biplane stabilizer center tail rotor and Blue Edge rotor blades. The new look creates sleeker and more stylish lines for the new H160 to make it a helicopter that will look great and be more fuel efficient, which is always an important feature since many helicopters and planes can be expensive to operate just from a fuel cost aspect.
Peugeot won the job of working on the J160 by winning an in-house design and style competition that Airbus offered. This was originally a design known as the X4 and when Airbus approved it they fine-tuned the initial design to come up with the model that we can witness at the airshow in Dubai. This design showed a strong personality for this type of craft and a unique take to help improve innovation, performance and even elicit emotion that should be enjoyed by anyone who sees the new H160 in the air as it really is a beautiful craft to behold.
This beauty is brought forth by being a futuristic design that blends well with the actual helicopter. The look offers tapered windows and gorgeous lines that come down nicely to the nose to create an awesome look and feel of the craft. This design along with the lighter materials that are used created a vehicle for the air that will certainly be the craft many hospitals will want along with others who like to have a helicopter for personal use or for media crews to be the right vehicle for multiple uses.
This new craft shows you quickly what Peugeot is capable of being able to create in order to collaborate in an area of vehicles that leaves the ground. They are not the only automotive company to ever do this, but with this new creation and the cool look and feel if the new H160 you might view Peugeot much differently in the future. Sometimes it’s amazing to see what these different companies will do that makes them the right choice to handle other design needs.
