Cars are a symbol of freedom for a young teen driver, regardless of model, a transportation item for growing families and a status symbol for the executive level car buyers. For a few very lucky individuals instead of making a choice they are able to buy any and every car they want without having to make a choice between the two, but for some, even the executive level buyers, the decision to buy a car that reaches well into the $100,000 range is a major purchase that requires a huge amount of commitment in order to be sure the right one is selected.
This is certainly the case when you consider buying either the Jaguar F-Type R or the Mercedes-AMG GT. This requires a careful planning of your desires, budget and even you needs in order to select the one that is right for you. Both cars offer massive power and tremendous handling, but certainly have differences that you might need to think about before offering up so much of your hard earned cash on your newest, latest and favorite toy.
The F-Type R comes in with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that gives you 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft. of torque. You can go down a model and have a 3.0-liter V6 that gives you 340 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque or a bump up to 380 ponies and 339 pounds of twist, but this would defeat the purpose of this comparison. The Jag comes with AWD giving you the control you need when in a car that can rocket along the road with so much awesome power and the suspension and chassis are mated perfectly for a confident ride through any turn. The F-Type has a reputation for being a growling brute that is looking for some attention. The sleek and elegant lines of the car and the awesome curves make this one of the most attractive cars you will ever see, but is it the right choice?
On the Mercedes-AMG GT the power comes from a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 that makes 503 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. This is attached to a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission (the F-Type R uses an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual). The GT can reach sixty mph in 3.7 seconds and offers a top speed of 193 mph while delivering the power and precise control you want in your high speed luxury sports car. When it comes to hugging a corner, the GT has it by far as it is wider than the F-Type R and appears to sit a little lower. This car is also one of the most attractive cars you will ever see on any road or track, giving you some of the most athletic features to fully enjoy.
So which one do you choose? If you are going for raw power, the GT is less powerful than the F-Type R. If you are considering price, the difference is about $30,000 in favor of the F-Type R. These sounds like the F-Type R should be the choice you make between these two and it certainly will deliver you a phenomenal car that offers a great performance. Some of you certainly will turn to the GT and in doing so will gain a better handling car that is more confident around turns, but this difference is truly only noticed and seen by those who are used to driving the top performance models. Overall, unless you have dreamed about the GT being your choice and when you reach the pinnacle of success this was the car for you, the F-Type R makes the most sense to buy.
