As the popularity of the Fiat 500 lineup has grown, the need for a mid-model in America has also increased. The car that fits right between the 500 and 500L is the 500X and its making its way across the Atlantic to be a great offering for those who want to take advantage of a 500 mid-range subcompact car. As the styling is attractive and enticing, this new offering will actually share some underpinning with the Jeep Renegade and has its own unique styling treatments and chassis tuning to be a model that has its own personality to share with you.
Fiat expects the 500X to attract a wider range of buyers not only for its new and distinctive personality but also for the five trim levels it will be offered in, which makes it one of the most versatile offerings from Fiat yet. The 500X will be offered in Pop, Easy, Lounge, Trekking and Trekking Plus trims to allow a wide variety of customers to take full advantage of what this car has to offer. The front and rear elements can be made ordered to specifications, allowing for your personality to show and for you to have a unique 500X.
The powertrain of this new model starts out as a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine for the Pop trim. This engine is attached to a six-speed manual transmission making 160 horsepower. The other trims will all feature a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four cylinder Tigershark MultiAir2 engine that is attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission making 180 horsepower. Having the larger engine allows for an all-wheel-drive system to be added which allows the rear axle to be disconnected when the AWD is not needed, making for an efficient system to use. This system also adds a Dynamic Selector for drive mode selection that includes Auto, Sport and Traction+ modes for on and off road conditions.
The 500X has room for five with buckets up front and a 60/40 split bench in the back. Standard equipment includes keyless remote entry, air conditioning, an Uconnect system and navigation for the Lounge and Trekking Plus trims which can both also be upgraded to leather interior. Other than the base, Pop, trim, many of the trims allow for special personalization, making the car match your personality easily. The 500X also features some advanced safety features including LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus, Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkView rear backup camera, ParkSense rear park assist and blind spot monitoring.
With this mid-range subcompact from Fiat, the 500X looks to be a very impressive model that will draw a crowd of shoppers. Having five trims and a range of options to personalize the car, along with some of the already fun and funky colors the Fiat 500 models are offered in makes this a car that carries its own personality and can quickly win over a crowd. The 2016 model is expected to appear at dealers later in the Summer, giving Fiat lovers a great new model to look forward to.
