The Honda designers in Los Angeles have come up with a Civic concept that is expected to take the world by storm and be the most stylish model of Civic to date as well as give the world a car that everyone can enjoy. Being launched as a global platform, the new Honda Civic will show up in sedan form in the fall and then be followed by the Coupe and five-door Hatchback. The Si and Type-R models will also make their way to American soil at some time in the near future, making this one of the few cars that is offered the same worldwide.
The style of the new Civic shows off a longer hood, shorter front, shorter rear deck and set back cabin. The front and rear fascia are both dynamically sculpted for an amazing look to go along with the new proportions. The lighting is all LED, giving the new Civic a highly attractive look and some amazing effects, especially across the rear deck lid with the taillight streaming across. The Coupe that was revealed at the New York Auto Show was painted in a gorgeous lime green color, giving the thought the new Civic will have a bright menu of awesome colors to offer.
The cabin of this new longstanding namesake will offer more space for occupants to enjoy the ride and have a wide array of amazing features for any driver to feel completely assisted. These features will include the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) that gives the car a better body structure as well as the Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and the Honda LaneWatch system. All these aids along with the better body structure and upgraded suspension will allow you to be more in control of the car, and with the Civic you will need to be as it is sure to make you feel energized when driving down the road.
The power for the new Civic will come from the line of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology engines. The expected base model will be the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine. The transmissions will be either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic (CVT). This new line of engines is expected to give owners the beat fuel economy in the class but word is still out on how the Type-R will perform in regards to power.
As we have seen in recent years, what used to be a separation of companies by companies has become a melding. The new Civic production is to take place in Greensburg, Indiana and in Alliston, Ontario for all models except the hatchback. The hatchback will be produced in Swindon, Great Britain, repurposing that plant for the necessary machinery. The new Civic is exciting to look at, offers a fun design, and if the engine lineup works as good as this car looks, will bring many Honda enthusiast to their knees to get hold of this longstanding name of fun and reliability.
