Concepts and Ideas Can Come to Life

Toyota Camatte Hajime

Some of the most creative concepts items we have ever seen come down a road have come from the thoughts and dreams of those who were designing toys and offering a smaller version of an adult sized product for kids to play with.  This has been the case for many years with Fisher Price and their Power Wheels brand of vehicles which many toy companies have tried to duplicate with little success.  Toyota has developed a concept of a kid’s power vehicle that is actually very versatile and able to give us a look at what might come next either for kids or for adults.

The concept which made its debut at the Tokyo Toy Show is the Toyota Camatte Hajime.  This is a concept toy vehicle that is made to serious blow away any Power Wheels vehicle that Fisher Price can come up with.  This concept is actually really interesting as the virtual car systems that are aboard make kids feel like they really are driving a larger model with a host of similar bells and whistles aboard to give the driving experience kids crave and adults have on a daily basis when on the road.

This new Hajime is a small jeep looking vehicle that mimics the FJ-40 that Toyota has styled for a long time.  This little off roader has three seats, removable body panels and even a seat that is large enough for an adult to ride along and help kids out when the vehicle becomes too much for their driving experience.  As the sixth entry into the Camatte lineup from Toyota, the Hajime means beginning and becomes part of the group which includes a hot dog truck, fire truck, ambulance and police car.  What’s really cool is the fact these vehicles can swap parts and bodies in order mix and match, creating 13 different bodies for the Camatte lineup of toy cars.

Unfortunately, the Camatte is simply a concept and is not expected to be released at all although it would be a lot of fun to enjoy a kid-sized hot dog truck.  As Toyota has created this particular lineup of toys for kids to marvel at, hopefully some company will pick up the idea, buy it from Toyota and start building the next great lineup of toy cars for kids to play with and learn the joys of driving on their own.
