Dodge Charger Daytona: Electric Muscle Car Roars With New Sound

The new Dodge Charger Daytona is an electric muscle car that’s heading to market with an incredible new sound made to give this car the desired rumble and roar.

The new Charger Daytona could be as quiet as a mouse, but that would be counterintuitive to what we want out of our muscle cars. To make this incredible car more impressive and raucous, Dodge has added a pumped-in soundtrack to make it sound aggressive and amazing when it drives by. The company recently gave the world a preview of what this amazing car brings to the table, especially in terms of the pumped-in sounds.

Not to everyone’s liking

The revving-like noise made by this new electric car sounds great to some, but it’s extremely difficult for automakers to fully replicate the incredible sounds generated by muscle cars. Because of this complexity and challenge, there were mixed reactions to the Charger Daytona SRT concept back in 2022. Some felt the car sounded futuristic, others loved the sounds, and some felt it sounded more like a vacuum cleaner than a muscle car. Thankfully, Dodge has fine-tuned this sound to make it sound much more traditional than you might expect from an electric muscle car.

Trading gas for electric

After the final models were offered in 2023, the Dodge team turned to electrification for the future. The new Dodge Charger Daytona will be the first electric car from the brand, which should give us the desired performance and plenty of amazing power. This new electric Charger has been described by Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis as an EV that bucks the trend. In his view, EVs are meant to be green and politically correct, and the Charger Daytona is not that at all. As you would expect, this new Dodge puts power and performance ahead of efficiency and range estimates on the priority list.

What does this Dodge provide?

Every Charger with Daytona in the name is now an electric vehicle. This Charger uses the modular STLA Large platform, but it features a 400-volt electrical architecture. Plans are in place to upgrade to an 800-volt system in the SRT Banshee model that should arrive late in 2025.

The R/T and Scat Pack trim levels will continue to be part of the new electric models of this Charger. The R/T versions should have 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque, while the Scat Pack models should produce 670 horsepower and 627 lb-t o torque. These figures are for the 2024 models which come with the Direct Connection Stage 1 and 2 packages that add extra power. In 2025, this package will be optional and not included.

Dodge didn’t completely ditch gas-powered Chargers. A new version will use the Stellantis Hurricane engine and arrive next year. The brand won’t use V8 engines any longer in any vehicle, but there won’t be a shortage of power with the Hurricane engine under the hood.

Body style changes

We’re used to the Dodge models being distinctive with their body styles. In the past, the Challenger was a two-door coupe and the Charger was a four-door sedan. The new Dodge Charger Daytona begins with only a two-door body style. The four-door versions of this car will arrive later next year, and we’ll probably see many of the other changes at the same time.

Give the Charger Daytona a Power Shot

There has to be a way to boost power in this incredible new Dodge muscle car, and it’s called Power Shot. The Power Shot feature gives the Daytona a 40-horsepower boost for up to 15 seconds. You have to wait 30 seconds between uses, but this feature can be used multiple times until the batteries run out of driving range.

The new Dodge Charger Daytona comes with a 93.9-kWh battery pack, which gives the R/T models 317 miles of driving range, and the Scat Pack versions have 260 miles of driving range.

Faster than before

These new electric versions of the Charger are more powerful than their gas predecessors. The new Daytona R/T should hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while the Scat Pack can hit this same mark in only 3.3 seconds. The quarter-mile times are also impressive, with the R/T finishing in 13.1 seconds and the Scat Pack doing the same in 11.5 seconds.

Unfortunately, Dodge is limiting the top speed to 137 mph for the R/T and 134 mph for the Scat Pack. Every Dodge Charger Daytona receives the Track Package Brembo brakes which give them massive 16.1-inch rotors all around.
