Is the Ford EcoSport dead?

When you visit your local Ford dealer after the 2022 model year, you might find that something is missing from the lineup. It won’t be the sedans, those have already been deleted, and it won’t be the trucks, those are still going strong, it will be the smallest of the SUV models called the EcoSport.

While relatively new to the market, the EcoSport won’t make it into a second generation and will make room for the new Ford Maverick compact pickup truck to take its place on the lot.

Why is Ford Discontinuing the EcoSport?

Ford is shutting down production activities in India, which is where the EcoSport is assembled for the United States market.

This means we won’t see this small SUV offered after the next model year. This small SUV is also sold in Europe and it will continue to be offered because their versions are assembled in Romania.

Production changes aren’t the only reason for the demise of this small SUV. Sales have not been strong for this little SUV.

Even though the starting price is just above $20,000, the EcoSport has never been a vehicle that moved off Ford dealer lots very quickly at all. These slow sales certainly added to the decision to delete this small SUV from the lineup and focus on the new compact truck that will arrive.

If You Want this Ford, You Should Know More

Even though you won’t see the EcoSport at your nearby Ford dealer after next year, you can still purchase one of these models and enjoy what this SUV brings to your life. With the news that is being discontinued, there’s a good chance you’ll find one of these SUVs at deep discounts to make it more affordable for you.

Why Drive this Ford?

You’ll enjoy the benefits of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to give you the connectivity you’re looking for. The tailgate opens to the side, which can make it much easier for you to get things out of the rear when you park next to a curb.

There are two packages that allow you to upgrade the SE trim with more of the features you want and what you would find on the higher trims. This allows you to have the smaller engine and still have the features you’re looking for.

The SE Convenience Package brings you a 110-volt power outlet, ambient interior lighting, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, Sync 3 with voice-activated navigation, and an eight-inch touchscreen.
