Can You Own a Porsche for Under $50,000?

In Porsche by Jesseb Shiloh

In most circles of the world you know Porsche to be a brand of sports cars that represent the best in advanced German engineering and precision. No other automaker has been able to replicate the perfection of balance and sportiness on the road that Porsche brings to the market. The only factor that makes many of us cringe is the price of these cars, but we’ve come to understand the fact that owning a Porsche comes with a sacrifice of paying the high price these cars ask for, but can you have a Porsche for the $50,000 price mark or less?

The answer is “yes you can.” The problem is that many Porsche purists might think this means Porsche is heading down the line and will eventually end its run at the tip of the sports car market, but the reality is this is simply a great new Porsche model that comes at a price more people can afford. The vehicle in question is the new 2017 Porsche Macan, which is a sporty small crossover SUV that gives you the performance and precision you want from Porsche while adding the space you need to carry more gear with you.

To give you a few numbers to start with, the new Macan comes at the base level with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. This is attached to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with some of the fastest shifting of any vehicle of this ilk and shows up at a starting price of $47,500. This gives you an efficient powertrain that seems to be a little underpowered compared to what most Porsche models would have, but it does come at a reasonably affordable price for you to enjoy the drive.

You might not think this is enough power, but it will give you every bit of what you want and the Macan rides on a suspension that’s all Porsche to give you the drive you want and the engagement you need. This starting price is nearly $7,000 less than the previous model, which might make some owners a bit upset, but when you look at the new Macan you do see where some of the cost savings comes in with the rectangular exhaust, black window surrounds and smaller brakes, but these items shouldn’t be enough to turn you off the Macan, this is an amazing small luxury sport SUV.

When you get inside the Macan you don’t see as many differences as you do on the outside. This SUV offers you tons of comfort and a perfectly addressed interior. If you do want more power you can move up to the Macan S which shows up with a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 that gives you 340 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque. This is a lot more power to enjoy. Giving the four-cylinder a chance will give you a sprint to sixty mph of only 6.1 seconds while the Macan S makes the run in 5.1 seconds to give you a difference that you can choose from and enjoy.
