Ford Donates Vehicles To DAV, Assists Veterans

The Ford Flex has become a crowd favorite since it was introduced in 2009. The Ford Flex is stylish on the outside with room to impress on the inside featuring dual chrome tip exhausts, six available wheel choices, distinctive body side grooves, and plenty of other features that will wow and inspire. Ford has recently announced that it will donate seven Ford Flex crossover vehicles to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Transportation Network.

The donation of Flex vehicles to DAV extends a strong relationship that Ford has had with assisting disabled military veterans for 93 years. The Flex vehicles will be added to the DAV Transportation Network, which enlists young volunteers to drive sick and disabled veterans to VA medical centers throughout the country. The new vehicles will be added to DAV networks in Little Rock, Arkansas, Iowa City, Iowa, Iron Mountain Michigan, Omaha, Nebraska, Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Seattle, Washington.

To date, Ford has donated 199 vehicles into the DAV fleet. Not only does Ford support the DAV with vehicle donations, they are sponsoring DAV 5K runs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, and San Diego. The races will be held in the fall of this year. Additionally, Ford will continue to support the Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program, which provides scholarship opportunities to those who have generously volunteered their time to help the disabled veteran community.

Ford also supported the DAV winter sports clinic in Snowmass Village, Colorado last spring. They will also continue to partner with Project SNAP to engage veterans and the public to draw messages of hope to military members who are active. These messages will become a part of this year’s Operation Grateful Nation mural. Artwork from last year is currently displayed at the Pentagon.

Fort’s partnership to assist the military and its veterans goes back to 1922 when Henry Ford organized a cross-country caravan of 50 model T vehicles to take to disabled veterans at the DAV convention in San Francisco. Since 1974, Ford has donated $9.3 million to various veteran’s organizations across the country. They also employ over 7,000 veterans, active military members, reservists, and guardsman.
