Comparing Some Good Old American Muscle

Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

Anyone who thinks the days of the American Muscle car being dead and gone have not seen these three beasts of the blacktop working side by side. I am talking about comparing the Ford Mustang GT, Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE and the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack.

This is the type of comparison you would simply call fun as each of these models is not the very top performer for the lineup it represents, but all three are well-known and highly respected versions that are extremely agile, aggressive and full of raw and rude power to plaster a smile on anyone’s face who gets the chance to drive one of them.

Ford Mustang GT Black

The new GT Mustang enters its sixth generation with an independent rear suspension that gives the car a major boost in capability. The 5.0-liter V8 engine growls out 420 horsepower to blast this beautiful pony along any road or track. With the new body stylings that offer a front that is sucked in the car looks narrower than before but is actually wider, quite a visual trick and one that adds beauty to this beast. One of the major selling points for the Mustang is the inclusion of an interior that offers actual comfort for you to fully enjoy.

2015 Dodge Challenger SXT

Even though the Challenger hasn’t gotten as much of a rework it has some changes that are very noticeable and nice as well. The Challenger gains a new nose and rear fascia that give the car a larger look even though it really is the same size as before. Powered by a 6.4-liter V8 engine that gives up 485 horsepower the Scat Pack version is one powerful and agile driving machine that will leave a lot of others in the dust. Other upgrades for the Scat Pack model include better brakes, a lower suspension, Bilstein shocks and larger anti-roll bars.

Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE

Last but not least, the Camaro gained new head and taillights last year and offers up a very strong 426 horsepower in its V8 engine in the SS 1LE model. A huge amount of upgraded suspension parts including a strut-tower brace, a close-ratio transmission with a cool and a high pressure fuel system let this car resemble a ZL1 without the supercharger. Throw in the awesome looks and performance along with a dual-mode exhaust and other performance items and the 1LE makes a muscle car that is a ton of fun for anyone to drive anywhere.

With these three strong American Muscle Cars on the block for comparison the clear winner in this group was the Challenger Scat Pack that offers the most horsepower and keeps the performance level at a height that is hard for others reach. Saying the Challenger is the winner doesn’t actually mean the others lost, because if you need a great sports car to have a lot of fun in and offer you an exhilarating ride anytime you step into the car, you simply can’t go wrong with any of these three cars.
